The Minister of State for Higher Education, Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo, has inaugurated the 12th Board of Directors of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on behalf of the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Museveni. Speaking at the ceremony held at Hotel Eliana, Muyingo emphasized the need for integrity, innovation, and professionalism in managing national examinations to safeguard public trust in Uganda’s education system.
Hon. Museveni, in remarks delivered on her behalf, highlighted UNEB’s central role in national development and urged the new Board to uphold ethical conduct, strengthen examination security, embrace digital transformation, and promote inclusiveness. She commended the outgoing Board for achievements including reduced examination malpractice, implementation of Competence-Based Assessment, and timely release of results, despite financial constraints.
The 13-member Board, chaired by Prof. Celestino Obua for a second term, was appointed under the UNEB Act, 2021, and brings together diverse stakeholders. As it begins its term, the Board was called upon to provide strategic leadership and ensure efficient, transparent, and credible delivery of UNEB’s mandate for the benefit of millions of learners nationwide.
