The National Resistance Movement chapter at Makerere University has unveiled Tebakor Jimmy Prince as its Guild Presidential flag bearer ahead of the upcoming guild elections scheduled for April.
The unveiling took place on Thursday when members of the university’s NRM chapter formally presented Tebakor to the party’s Deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja Nsereko, at the NRM Secretariat.
According to the chapter leadership, Tebakor emerged as the party’s preferred candidate following a heated internal selection process among aspiring contenders within the university chapter.
Speaking during the meeting, Namayanja welcomed the candidate and commended the students for rallying behind a single flag bearer ahead of the guild race. She encouraged members of the chapter to remain united and mobilize support for Tebakor as the campaigns for the guild elections gather momentum.
The Makerere Guild Presidency remains one of the most influential student leadership positions in the country, often attracting interest from national political parties seeking to strengthen their presence among the youth.
With both the NRM and opposition-leaning student groups already unveiling candidates, the upcoming guild elections at Makerere University are expected to be highly competitive as students prepare to elect their next guild leadership.
