The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has pledged UGX 100 million towards the purchase of 5,000 running kits in support of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 52nd birthday charity run.
The event, scheduled for April 26, 2026, at Kololo Independence Grounds, is organized by the Patriotic League of Uganda under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope.” It is expected to attract over 50,000 participants, with proceeds aimed at supporting vulnerable children and communities.
Among, who is also the director of Bukedea Comprehensive School, said the contribution is intended not only to support the cause but also to promote patriotism among young people, especially students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“I believe this initiative goes beyond a run. It is about giving hope and building a spirit of patriotism among our young people,” she said.
She also thanked Gen. Kainerugaba for his support and called on Ugandans from all walks of life to participate in the event to make it a success.
The charity run is part of broader efforts to mobilize resources and raise awareness for vulnerable groups, with organizers emphasizing unity and collective responsibility in supporting those in need.
