The Head of the European Union Delegation to Uganda, Jan Sadek, has thanked the people of Hoima and the wider Bunyoro sub-region for the warm hospitality extended to Team Europe ambassadors during their visit to the Albertine region this week.
In a message following the tour, Ambassador Sadek said the delegation appreciated the opportunity to witness firsthand the region’s growing energy, ambition, and natural beauty.
He noted that the visit highlighted the increasing importance of the Albertine region in Uganda’s development agenda, particularly in key sectors such as tourism, trade, and energy.
The Albertine region has become one of Uganda’s most strategically significant areas due to ongoing oil and gas developments, infrastructure expansion, and investment opportunities linked to the country’s energy sector.
According to officials, the European Union delegation’s visit forms part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation and partnerships between Uganda and European countries in supporting regional development initiatives.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for diplomats to interact with local leaders, communities, and stakeholders involved in economic and social transformation projects across the region.
Uganda and the European Union maintain longstanding cooperation in areas including trade, governance, infrastructure, climate resilience, energy, and humanitarian support.
