The United Kingdom has announced a fresh £450 million military aid package for Ukraine, reinforcing its commitment to support Kyiv in its war effort against Russia.

The announcement comes as 50 nations gather in Brussels for a key meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group — now co-chaired by UK Defence Secretary John Healey and Germany’s Boris Pistorius.

The new aid includes advanced drones and funds for repairing armoured vehicles, and forms part of a broader support initiative bolstered by additional funding from Norway.

Healey said the meeting aims to “pile pressure” on Russian President Vladimir Putin, stressing that the coalition of allies remains united in backing Ukraine for the long haul.

Traditionally hosted by the US, the Contact Group has seen a shift in leadership since Donald Trump returned to the White House in January, with European powers now stepping up to steer coordination efforts.

Today’s session in Brussels is expected to map out future logistics, training, and long-term defence commitments to ensure Ukraine’s resilience on and off the battlefield.
