Central Texas Search and rescue efforts are ongoing for a fourth consecutive day as authorities continue to look for dozens of missing individuals following devastating flash floods that swept through central Texas.

Camp Mystic, a popular summer camp in Kerr County, confirmed that at least 27 girls and staff members were among the more than 80 people who have been confirmed dead. The floods hit in the early hours of Friday when the Guadalupe River rose rapidly more than 26 feet (8 meters) in under an hour causing catastrophic damage.

The U.S. National Weather Service has issued continued flood alerts, with more heavy rain expected in the next 24 to 48 hours. Alerts will remain in effect until 7:00 PM local time on Monday.

President Donald Trump signed a major disaster declaration for Kerr County on Sunday, allowing federal assistance to support ongoing response efforts. Meanwhile, questions are being raised about whether timely and sufficient flood warnings were provided to residents and campers in the area.
