Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has strongly criticized the escalating military confrontation involving the United States and Israel against Iran, warning that the world must not repeat the mistakes that led to past conflicts in the Middle East.

In a statement reflecting Spain’s position, Sánchez recalled the controversial Iraq War, arguing that similar decisions by global leaders previously pushed the world into a war that caused widespread instability and suffering.

“The world, Europe, and Spain have faced this critical moment before,” Sánchez said. “In 2003, a few irresponsible leaders dragged us into an illegal war in the Middle East that brought nothing but insecurity and pain.”

He stressed that the lessons from that period should guide current global responses to the crisis, emphasizing that military force should not be the primary solution to international disputes.

“Our response then must be our response now,” he said.

“No to violations of international law.

No to the illusion that we can solve the world’s problems with bombs.

No to repeating the mistakes of the past.

No to war.”

The remarks highlight Spain’s position in favor of diplomacy and adherence to international law as tensions in the Middle East continue to raise fears of a wider regional conflict.
