The Parliament of Uganda has announced that newly elected Members of Parliament will be sworn in from May 13 to May 15, 2026, at Parliament House in Kampala.
According to the notice, the Clerk to Parliament will administer both the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Member of Parliament to all MPs-elect over the three-day exercise, which will follow a structured schedule.
On Wednesday, May 13, the swearing-in will run from 8:00am to 1:30pm, covering members from Hon. Aayoo Joyce Makamoe to Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, and resume from 2:00pm to 6:30pm for those from Hon. Babula Noel Kataike Matilda to Hon. Kanaabi Jimmy.
The exercise continues on Thursday, May 14, with the morning session covering Hon. Kangwagye Stephen Rwakanuma to Hon. Lukyamuzi David Kalwanga, and the afternoon session handling Hon. Lule Eria Erick to Hon. Nambeshe John Baptist.
On the final day, Friday, May 15, the morning session will see MPs from Hon. Nambooze Teddy to Hon. Opolot Patrick take oath, while the afternoon session concludes with those from Hon. Opolot-Okwalinga Simon Peter to Hon. Zawedde Victorious.
All MPs-elect have been directed to collect their invitation cards, programme booklets, and biodata forms from the Office of the Clerk on May 4 and 5, between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Completed biodata forms are to be submitted either in advance or on the day of swearing-in.
Parliament has also issued strict guidelines for the ceremony. Each MP-elect is allowed to attend with only three guests, while those with disabilities may be accompanied by an additional aide.
Officials have emphasized the importance of adhering to the schedule and keeping time to ensure a smooth and orderly swearing-in process ahead of the new parliamentary term.
