Ugandan authorities have arrested a prison warder who had been on the run for over a month after allegedly shooting dead four people at Kiboga Central Prison.
The suspect, Moses Anguyo, was apprehended in Aru in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo following a joint security operation.
The operation involved the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda Prisons Service, working closely with Congolese security forces, particularly teams from Arua District including Vurra.
Anguyo, identified as Warder No. 13544, is the prime suspect in the February 23, 2026 shooting at Kiboga Central Prison. The incident reportedly occurred during a routine inspection at around 10:00 a.m., when he allegedly opened fire on his superiors, killing four people.
Security agencies say the suspect had since been on the run before crossing the border into DR Congo, where he was eventually tracked down and arrested.
Authorities are now expected to coordinate his transfer back to Uganda to face charges as investigations into the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting continue.
