Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has ordered the arrest of two senior officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Force over suspected corruption.

The officers, Don William Nabasa and Johnson Namanya Abaho, were detained on Thursday following an order relayed through the Deputy CDF and Chief Inspector of the Armed Forces, Sam Okiding.

The two generals were first interrogated for several hours at Mbuya before being transferred to the Special Forces Command detention facility in Kasenyi along Entebbe Road, where they remain in custody pending further directives. Reports indicate they are being held in the quartermaster’s wing, with a possible transfer to Makindye Military Police Barracks under consideration.

Before their arrest, Maj Gen Nabasa served as Joint Staff for Policy and Strategy, while Brig Gen Namanya had recently been recalled from his position at the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, where he was Commissioner for Citizenship and Passport Management.

In a related development, Gen Muhoozi also dismissed Abdul Rugumayo from his role as Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, replacing him with Oscar Munanura from the counter-intelligence unit. Rugumayo has since been reassigned to Defence Headquarters in Mbuya.

The latest actions signal a renewed push by the CDF to enforce discipline and accountability within the military, as part of broader efforts to address corruption and strengthen institutional integrity within the armed forces.
