The Office of the President has begun a regional outreach in eastern Uganda aimed at recognising citizens whose contributions have shaped community development, with officials moving across the Busoga sub-region to collect nominations for national honours and presidential medals ahead of upcoming national celebrations.

The exercise is being led by Zaminah Malole, Head of Chancery in the Office of the President, who met district leaders in Kamuli and urged local authorities to propose individuals whose work has had tangible impact in society.

Malole said the nominations should prioritise people who have excelled in agriculture, education, health services and community leadership, explaining that the initiative seeks to bring national attention to citizens who have served quietly without recognition.

According to officials, the outreach is intended not only to honour past achievements but also to motivate a culture of volunteerism and civic responsibility at the grassroots level.

The Busoga engagement follows similar consultations conducted in other regions of the country and will extend across all districts in the sub-region as part of a nationwide identification process coordinated by the Chancery Department.

The department manages state decorations traditionally awarded during national commemorations such as Heroes Day and Independence Day, where individuals recognised for distinguished service receive medals from the presidency.
