The Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Richard Todwong, has urged leaders in Burundi to maintain political stability as the country prepares for its 2027 presidential elections.
Todwong made the remarks during high-level talks with the ruling CNDD-FDD, where he led a Ugandan delegation and delivered a message from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“I bring you greetings from H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the entire NRM leadership,” Todwong said, while commending Burundi for what he described as sustained peace and internal stability.
He emphasized the importance of preserving calm political conditions to ensure credible elections and continued development in the country.
The engagement reflects ongoing regional cooperation between Uganda and Burundi, with leaders underscoring stability as a key pillar for growth and security in the East African region.
