President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has retained Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja as Prime Minister and Maj. (Rtd.) Jessica Rose Epel Alupo as Vice President in the newly announced Cabinet for the 2026–2031 term, a move widely viewed as a sign of continued confidence in their leadership and service.
The decision comes as the President unveiled a new Cabinet aimed at steering government programs and national priorities over the next five years.
Political analysts and government supporters say the retention of the two senior leaders reflects recognition of their performance, consistency, and ability to maintain stability within government structures.
Since her appointment as Prime Minister in 2021, Nabbanja has played a central role in coordinating government business and supervising the implementation of key national programs.
Her leadership has often been associated with close engagement with local communities and monitoring service delivery initiatives across the country.
Government officials describe her as a dependable mobilizer who has maintained strong coordination between ministries, departments, and agencies while remaining connected to wananchi.
“She has demonstrated commitment, discipline, and dedication in executing government programs. Her retention shows the trust the President continues to place in her leadership,” a senior government official said following the Cabinet announcement.
Vice President Alupo, who also retained her position, has been praised for her calm leadership style, political maturity, and long experience in public service.
Before becoming Vice President, Alupo served in several key government positions, including Minister of Education and Sports, earning a reputation as a disciplined and steady leader.
Observers note that her continued presence in the country’s top leadership signals the importance of experience and continuity within government.
“She has remained loyal, composed, and focused on national service. Her vast experience continues to strengthen confidence in government leadership,” another official noted.
The retention of Nabbanja and Alupo comes at a time when President Museveni is seeking to balance continuity with fresh appointments in the new Cabinet.
Supporters within the ruling National Resistance Movement say the move reflects the value of experienced leadership in advancing government priorities, maintaining political stability, and supporting socio-economic transformation.
The two leaders are expected to continue playing key roles in coordinating government operations as the administration embarks on another five-year term.
