The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Parliamentary Caucus has resolved to pass all the Rationalisation of Government Agencies and Public Expenditure (RAPEX) Bills, marking a significant step towards Uganda\u2019s socio-economic transformation.<\/p>\n

The NRM Party Parliamentary Caucus, led by Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, convened at State House Entebbe on Friday, September 6, 2024. The meeting, which included a keynote address by the NRM Party National Chairman, President Yoweri Museveni, centered on a critical report from the Parliamentary Committees of Agriculture, National Economy, and Finance.<\/p>\n

The report, which emerged from discussions held on September 3, 2024, provided the foundation for the Caucus\u2019s strong endorsement of the RAPEX Bills.<\/p>\n

These bills are part of a broader effort to rationalize government agencies and public expenditure, a strategy deeply rooted in the NRA\/M’s historical mission of driving Uganda\u2019s socio-economic transformation. The Caucus’s endorsement of the bills underscores the party\u2019s commitment to streamlining government operations and reducing redundancy in the public sector.<\/p>\n

One of the key outcomes of the Caucus meeting was the decision to grant a three-year transitional period for two crucial agencies: the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) and the National Information Technology Authority, Uganda (NITA-U).<\/p>\n

This transitional period is designed to ensure that these agencies can align their operations with the new government directives without disrupting their essential services to the nation.<\/p>\n

The RAPEX initiative is seen as a pivotal moment in Uganda\u2019s ongoing journey towards efficiency and effectiveness in public service delivery.
