The Parliament of Uganda has dismissed recent statements made by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba on his personal social media as his individual opinion, not an official government stance.<\/p>\n

The Cheif of Defence Force Uganda Peoples Defence Force [UPDF] Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who has frequently taken to his personal X (formerly Twitter) social media account to share his thoughts on Uganda\u2019s governance, has sparked debate among lawmakers who believe his actions may violate constitutional boundaries.<\/p>\n

During a heated parliamentary session chaired by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, some members of Parliament expressed concerns that Gen. Muhoozi\u2019s public commentary may undermine the integrity of Uganda\u2019s Constitution. His remarks have been seen by some as laying the groundwork for a potential 2026 presidential bid, a move that has stirred political debate within both the government and public spheres.<\/p>\n

A section of MPs urged the House to address the matter formally, with concerns raised about the implications of a senior military figure using social media to shape political discourse. However, Tayebwa advised that the issue should be referred to the Ministry of Defence and Internal Affairs to determine whether any laws have been breached.<\/p>\n
