<\/p>\nUganda’s Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah, has been recognized on the global stage, receiving the prestigious Global Women Leadership Award in New York, highlighting her leadership and advocacy for gender equality.<\/p>\n
During the Global Power Women Conference 2024, held at the Graduate Centre, University of New York City, Uganda’s Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah was awarded the Global Women Leadership Award, an honor recognizing visionary women leaders who have driven significant change across sectors. The award is conferred annually by the Centre of Economic and Leadership Development, based in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Upon receiving the award, Nabbanja expressed gratitude and acknowledged Uganda’s progress toward gender equality, citing policies and laws that have empowered women across various sectors. “Uganda has made substantial strides towards gender equality through progressive laws and policies,” Nabbanja stated during her acceptance speech. She dedicated the award to President Yoweri Museveni, her cabinet, and the people of Kakumiro District, who she said have been integral to her leadership journey.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister\u2019s keynote address was a call to action for further empowerment of women, particularly in the financial sector. She urged women leaders globally to focus on uplifting their fellow women rather than engaging in divisive conflicts. “We, as women leaders, must help each other instead of pulling each other down in uncalled-for intrigues and differences,” Nabbanja remarked passionately.<\/p>\n
Nabbanja also called on world leaders to dismantle discriminatory legal frameworks, emphasizing that true empowerment could only be achieved through inclusive and fair laws that benefit women across the globe.<\/p>\n

The conference, which ran under the theme \u201cAdvancing the Transformative Power of Technology through Women’s Lens: Shaping the Future of Business and Governance,\u201d<\/em> brought together leading women from various sectors to explore how technology can empower women in business and governance.<\/p>\n Other distinguished recipients of the award included First Ladies and prominent leaders such as H.E. Mrs. Rossana Maria Brice\u00f1o of Belize, H.E. Leticia Ocampos of Paraguay, H.E. Arya Ali of Guyana, and Olive Birungi Lumonya, Deputy Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.
