The Uganda Driver Licensing System (UDLS) will undergo scheduled maintenance from December 13-14, 2024, aimed at enhancing the system\u2019s efficiency and reliability. This temporary closure is expected to allow the Ministry of Works to perform critical upgrades to improve service delivery.<\/p>\n

Mr. Bageya Waiswa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, assured the public of the necessity of this maintenance, stating, \u201cWe apologize for any inconveniences caused by the temporary closure and appreciate the public\u2019s understanding as we work to enhance our services.\u201d<\/p>\n

The closure will impact all UDLS offices across the country. The Kampala Office will be closed on Saturday, December 14, 2024, resuming operations on Monday, December 16, 2024. Regional offices in Jinja, Mbale, Gulu, Arua, Fort Portal, and Mbarara will cease operations from 2:00 pm on Friday, December 13, 2024, and will also reopen on December 16.<\/p>\n

UDLS plays a vital role in Uganda\u2019s transportation infrastructure by issuing driver\u2019s licenses and promoting road safety. In recent years, the system has made significant strides, including the introduction of a digital platform that processes new licenses within an hour. This modernization has earned widespread praise, with the State Minister for Transport rating the service delivery at an impressive 99% efficiency.<\/p>\n

The scheduled maintenance reflects Uganda\u2019s commitment to leveraging technology to improve public services. Upon reopening, the enhanced system is expected to deliver even greater reliability and convenience for Ugandan drivers.<\/p>\n
