Polling in the Kawempe North by-election\u00a0 officially commenced today, Thursday, March 13, 2025, with the Electoral Commission confirming the timely delivery of all materials to the 197 polling stations.<\/p>\n

The by-election follows the death of former area MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, leaving the seat vacant. Ten candidates are vying to replace him, with the constituency witnessing high political interest.<\/p>\n

Electoral Commission spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi assured the public that all polling materials arrived on time, and officials were set to begin voting at 7 a.m. as required by law. \u201cAll polling materials have been delivered at each of the 197 polling stations in Kawempe North. The staff handling the election are ready to commence polling,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

According to electoral laws, voting at any polling station can only begin if at least 10 registered voters and a police constable are present.<\/p>\n
