Officials from the Department of Refugees in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) are attending a Capacity Building Development Workshop at Silver Springs Hotel in Kampala.<\/p>\n

The training, organized in collaboration with the Japan International Development Agency (JICA), aims to equip officials with the necessary skills to manage Uganda\u2019s growing refugee population effectively.<\/p>\n

During the opening ceremony, the OPM Permanent Secretary\u2019s remarks were delivered by the Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Okello Patrick. He acknowledged the mounting challenges faced by the ministry due to the massive influx of refugees, emphasizing the need for enhanced coordination and resource management.<\/p>\n

Mr. Okello urged refugee department staff to uphold ethical workplace conduct, practice effective communication, adhere to the established reporting hierarchy, and foster teamwork. With Uganda hosting one of the largest refugee populations in the world, this workshop is expected to improve service delivery and reinforce the country\u2019s commitment to humanitarian efforts.<\/p>\n
