<\/p>\nPresident Yoweri Kaguta Museveni unveils the logo, jersey, and media channels for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) at a colorful ceremony held at Kololo Independence Grounds.<\/p>\n
The event marked a key milestone in Uganda\u2019s preparations to co-host CHAN 2024 with regional partners Kenya and Tanzania. Speaking at the launch, President Museveni underscored the significance of the tournament, describing it as \u201cmuch more than just a sporting event.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis tournament symbolises much more than just sport; it is a powerful vehicle for enhancing our global image and creating business opportunities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The President emphasized how far Uganda has come, noting that the country\u2019s post-conflict recovery under the NRM government had paved the way for peace, stability, education reform, and now\u00a0 a renaissance in sports infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have established peace and expanded education. Now, stadiums are being built, and sport has been boosted. I am pleased with our readiness to host the tournament,\u201d Museveni added.<\/p>\n

He praised the pressure brought by CHAN as \u201cpositive,\u201d saying it has motivated government agencies and stakeholders to fast-track sports development and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The launch featured the unveiling of the official CHAN 2024 branding assets, including the tournament logo and national team jersey. It also introduced digital media platforms dedicated to promoting Uganda\u2019s role in the tournament and engaging fans at home and abroad.<\/p>\n
As Uganda prepares to host CHAN for the first time, Museveni lauded the trilateral cooperation with Kenya and Tanzania as a \u201cpowerful symbol of East African solidarity.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur joint bid represents a significant step towards regional cohesion and the unity of East Africa,\u201d the President noted, adding that sports diplomacy is now a critical pillar in fostering integration and mutual respect among neighboring states.<\/p>\n
The First Lady echoed the President\u2019s sentiments, urging the youth to draw inspiration from sports and focus on discipline, patriotism, and teamwork.<\/p>\n
CHAN 2024, which is reserved for players active in their domestic leagues, is expected to draw thousands of fans, athletes, and tourists to Uganda, boosting hospitality, transport, and other key sectors.<\/p>\n
