The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Wednesday held a strategic meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Uganda, His Excellency Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed, at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe, with discussions centered on revitalizing military cooperation and advancing regional peace.<\/p>\n
The Sudanese Ambassador was accompanied by the Military Attach\u00e9 of Sudan to Uganda, Maj. Gen. Dr. Faisal Al Tayeb Ali Khogali.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Ambassador Ahmed commended the Uganda People\u2019s Defence Forces (UPDF) for its continued contribution to regional peace and stability. He stressed Sudan\u2019s interest in strengthening its long-standing military partnership with Uganda.<\/p>\n
\u201cUganda has consistently demonstrated commitment to regional peace and stability. We are eager to restore and strengthen military cooperation between our two countries,\u201d Ambassador Ahmed noted.<\/p>\n
General Muhoozi welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed Uganda\u2019s solidarity with Sudan in its quest for peace. He underscored the historic ties between the two nations, recalling Sudan\u2019s past support for Uganda\u2019s security operations.<\/p>\n
\u201cUganda sent troops to support President Kiir when civil war broke out in the country in 2013, just two years after it gained independence from Sudan, and has repeatedly joined efforts against armed opposition and internal coup threats. We remain optimistic that total peace can be achieved in Sudan,\u201d the CDF said.<\/p>\n
The meeting is part of General Muhoozi\u2019s wider regional engagements aimed at strengthening security partnerships. Recently, he met South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit in Juba, where they discussed security cooperation, peace initiatives, and economic collaboration. He has also held talks with several African heads of state and military leaders on advancing continental stability.<\/p>\n
