MTN Uganda Launches Jinja City Beautification Projects in Major Urban Development Push<\/p>\n
MTN Uganda has today unveiled two landmark urban development projects in Jinja City\u00a0 a fully branded roundabout and the refurbishment of the historic City Fountain at the Mayor\u2019s Gardens marking a significant step in the telecom giant\u2019s commitment to sustainable community transformation.<\/p>\n
The projects, which align with MTN Uganda\u2019s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda under its Ambition 2025 Strategy, underscore the company\u2019s vision of fostering inclusive growth through both technology and community development.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch, MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge said the initiatives reflect the company\u2019s long-term commitment to supporting cities beyond connectivity.<\/p>\n
\u201cCities like Jinja are central to Uganda\u2019s growth, and we are proud to contribute to their transformation. Supporting the beautification of our cities is part of our ESG commitment under Ambition 2025,\u201d Mulinge said.<\/p>\n
The newly branded roundabout, painted in MTN\u2019s iconic yellow and featuring modern landscaping, is designed to symbolize movement, connection, and progress \u2014 values that the company says mirror its mission of linking communities through technology.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the City Fountain refurbishment project, set to begin immediately, aims to restore one of Jinja\u2019s most recognizable public landmarks into a vibrant social hub. Once complete, the fountain is expected to serve as a focal point for city pride, tourism, and urban renewal.<\/p>\n
Jinja City Mayor Peter Alton Kasolo hailed MTN\u2019s investment as a model example of how public-private partnerships can drive sustainable urban improvement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are delighted to partner with MTN Uganda on these initiatives. The refurbished fountain and the branded roundabout will enhance our city\u2019s beauty and create spaces that our residents can enjoy for years to come,\u201d said Kasolo.<\/p>\n
MTN Uganda credited Kards Investment for its role in implementing the projects, emphasizing that collaboration with local companies and city authorities was key to achieving lasting urban<\/p>\n
Under its Ambition 2025 Strategy, MTN Uganda has expanded its corporate social responsibility focus to include environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and urban resilience. The Jinja projects join a growing list of community-based initiatives that align with the company\u2019s mission to \u201cenable the benefits of a modern connected life for all.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mulinge added that MTN plans to extend similar projects to other urban centers across Uganda, reinforcing the brand\u2019s visibility while contributing to cleaner, more livable cities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe business growth must go hand-in-hand with community progress,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is our way of giving back and building a future where technology, environment, and people coexist harmoniously.\u201d<\/p>\n
As Jinja City continues to position itself as a key tourism and industrial hub, the partnership between MTN Uganda and the city council is being hailed as a forward-looking model for corporate engagement in urban renewal.<\/p>\n
