A key border crossing between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi reopened on Monday after more than two months of closure triggered by fighting in eastern Congo, according to officials on both sides of the frontier.<\/p>\n

Eastern DR Congo has long been plagued by armed conflict involving multiple militias and foreign-backed groups, with recurring violence displacing civilians and undermining economic stability. The temporary closure of the Kavimvira crossing further highlighted the fragile security environment in the Great Lakes region.<\/p>\n
