Speaking before Parliament, Ssemujju pointed out discrepancies across different budget documents, particularly in key areas such as the petroleum fund, domestic financing, and the overall resource envelope. He noted that the petroleum fund is reflected as Shs1.4 trillion in one document and Shs1.8 trillion in another, while domestic financing appears as Shs11.9 trillion compared to Shs11.2 trillion.<\/p>\n
He further highlighted that the total resource envelope is listed as Shs84.2 trillion in one version and Shs84.5 trillion in another, raising questions about which figures are accurate.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am seeking clarification, not contesting,\u201d Ssemujju told the House, emphasizing the need for consistency and transparency in budget reporting.<\/p>\n
The concerns come amid ongoing presentations before the Budget Committee, where various committee chairpersons are submitting reports related to the national budget. The issue was raised following a report presented by Finance Committee Vice Chairperson Moses Aleper.<\/p>\n
Ssemujju also questioned whether repeated supplementary budgets have been properly reflected in the approved estimates, warning that inconsistencies could undermine Parliament\u2019s oversight role.<\/p>\n
