The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has announced full preparedness for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, with at least 30 international delegations confirming their attendance ahead of the May 12 event.<\/p>\n
The ceremony, set to take place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, is expected to draw regional leaders, diplomats, and dignitaries from across the globe, underscoring Uganda\u2019s diplomatic ties and the significance of the occasion.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Uganda Media Centre on Tuesday, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong said preparations are in advanced stages. He noted that the party is working closely with the government through the National Organising Committee to ensure a smooth and successful event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are here to announce a very important function where we shall be swearing in our President-elect. This has been on the national calendar, and Ugandans have been waiting for it,\u201d Todwong said.<\/p>\n
He commended the government for what he described as \u201cwell-elaborated preparation and guidance,\u201d adding that all logistical arrangements, including security, protocol, and accommodation for guests, are being handled with precision.<\/p>\n
According to Todwong, the anticipated presence of numerous foreign delegations reflects confidence in Uganda\u2019s leadership and the country\u2019s continued role in regional stability. He emphasized that the ceremony will not only mark the beginning of a new presidential term but also serve as a moment of national pride and unity.<\/p>\n
Security agencies, he said, are on high alert to guarantee the safety of all attendees, while organizers are finalizing rehearsals and accreditation processes for both local and international participants.<\/p>\n
The May 12 swearing-in ceremony will officially usher President Museveni into another term in office, following his declaration as winner of the recent general elections. The event is expected to be broadcast live, allowing millions of Ugandans and international viewers to witness the proceedings.<\/p>\n
