Equity Bank has officially admitted 100 top-performing Senior Six graduates into its fully paid internship and leadership development programme under the Equity Leaders Program (ELP), continuing its investment in youth mentorship and career preparation.<\/p>\n
The fifth cohort of the programme was officially launched on May 4, 2026, and the activities are concluding today at Africa Bible University.<\/p>\n
The selected students, drawn from different parts of the country, are undergoing leadership training, mentorship, career guidance, and professional exposure aimed at preparing them for future academic and workplace opportunities.<\/p>\n
Today\u2019s closing ceremony is being presided over by James Mwangi, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Equity Group Holdings.<\/p>\n
The event also includes the graduation of participants from Cohorts One and Two, alongside the commissioning of the newly admitted Cohort Five students for 2026.<\/p>\n
The Equity Leaders Program has grown into one of the region\u2019s prominent youth empowerment initiatives, targeting academically outstanding but often financially constrained students and equipping them with leadership, entrepreneurship, and employability skills.<\/p>\n
Officials at the bank say the programme is designed to nurture a new generation of ethical and transformational leaders capable of contributing to national and regional development.<\/p>\n
The internship opportunity also gives students hands-on experience within the banking sector and related professional environments while receiving financial support throughout the programme.<\/p>\n
Education and youth development stakeholders have increasingly praised private sector-led initiatives such as ELP for helping bridge the gap between academic achievement and workplace readiness, especially amid growing youth unemployment concerns across the region.<\/p>\n
