National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer Idah Nabayiga has officially launched her campaign activities for the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election with a community meeting in Kagoonya Village, Bujumba Sub-county on Bunyama Island.
Addressing residents, Nabayiga thanked voters for their continued support of the NRM, particularly during the recent general elections. She commended the community for electing Agnes Lunkuse as District Chairperson and William Lugolobi to Parliament.
The NRM candidate appealed to residents to extend the same support to her candidature, arguing that she understands the unique challenges facing island communities in Kalangala District.
Nabayiga pledged to use her position, if elected, to advocate for improved service delivery and ensure effective monitoring of government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods in the district. She said working closely with the NRM government would enable her to lobby more effectively for development projects and public services.
The candidate also urged residents of Kagoonya and the wider Bunyama Island community to actively mobilize support for her campaign, encouraging them to reach out to undecided voters and even opposition supporters ahead of the by-election.
The Kalangala District Woman MP by-election has attracted significant political attention, with parties intensifying grassroots mobilization efforts as they seek to secure victory in the island district. Nabayiga’s campaign launch marks the beginning of a series of engagements expected across various islands and communities in Kalangala as candidates seek support from voters.
