The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, joined mourners at Christ Church Parish in Gulu to celebrate the life of Mzee Nathan Okori Adiyo, father of the late former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.

The funeral service drew a high-profile gathering, including Chief Justice Emeritus Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, ministers, Members of Parliament, and other dignitaries who came to pay tribute to the deceased’s life and legacy.

Following the church service, the cortege proceeded to Lalogi in Omoro District, where a vigil was held at the family’s ancestral home ahead of the burial.

Mzee Okori Adiyo passed away on March 20, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, prompting an outpouring of condolences from across the country.

His death has brought together leaders and community members to reflect on his contribution to society and the legacy he leaves behind, particularly through his family’s service to the nation.
