Newly re-elected Mawokota North MP Amelia Kyambadde has cautioned female legislators entering Uganda’s 12th Parliament to remain vigilant against sexual exploitation and manipulation within political spaces.

Speaking after her return to Parliament, Kyambadde warned that young and new female MPs often encounter hidden pressures that may be presented as friendship, mentorship, or business opportunities but carry ulterior motives.

She noted that such situations have, in some cases, led to strained relationships and broken families, pointing to what she described as complex personal dynamics within Parliament.

Kyambadde emphasized that while some colleagues may genuinely seek to offer guidance, others may approach new legislators with inappropriate intentions, urging women to stay focused on their responsibilities and maintain clear professional boundaries.

Her remarks highlight ongoing concerns about ethics, conduct, and the working environment within political institutions, particularly for women navigating leadership spaces.
