Prime Minister Nabbanja Engages with UNDP on Sustainable Development Goals

Kampala, Uganda – In a significant move to bolster Uganda’s sustainable development efforts, Prime Minister Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah held a series of strategic discussions with the staff and partners of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at their Kampala offices.

Upon her arrival, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Nwanne Vwede-Obahor, the UNDP Resident Representative for Uganda. The conversations centered on accelerating Uganda’s journey towards sustainable development, highlighting the robust partnership between UNDP and the Ugandan government.

Nabbanja expressed her deep appreciation for UNDP’s more than 50 years of partnership with Uganda, emphasizing the critical role this collaboration has played in achieving the country’s development aspirations. She voiced her commitment to further strengthening this cooperation to better serve the people of Uganda.

“UNDP has been an invaluable partner in our development journey,” Nabbanja stated. “We are eager to continue and deepen our collaboration to ensure that we meet our Sustainable Development Goals and uplift the lives of all Ugandans.”

The discussions also underscored the ongoing joint efforts between UNDP and the Ugandan government to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of these goals in guiding Uganda’s development strategy and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

The meeting saw participation from key officials from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), led by Permanent Secretary Dunstan Balaba, along with other distinguished partners. The collaborative dialogue reaffirmed the mutual commitment to sustainable development and the implementation of strategic initiatives that align with Uganda’s Vision 2040.

Nwanne Vwede-Obahor, speaking on behalf of UNDP, reiterated the organization’s dedication to supporting Uganda’s development agenda. “We are committed to working hand in hand with the government and people of Uganda to achieve the SDGs and ensure sustainable, inclusive growth for all,” she said.

This engagements mark a continued partnership aimed at fostering sustainable development, economic growth, and social progress in Uganda. The shared vision and collaboration between the Ugandan government and UNDP are set to drive significant advancements in the country’s development trajectory.
