Ugandan music star Eddy Kenzo has addressed speculation surrounding his upcoming marriage to Minister of State for Minerals Phiona Nyamutoro, dismissing claims that he might change his religion as a condition for their union.

The “Sitamina” hitmaker emphasized that the rumors were unfounded and aimed at creating division, reaffirming that his faith is personal and not subject to public debate.

Eddy Kenzo, born Edirisa Musuuza, has recently found himself at the center of public speculation regarding his religious beliefs and his relationship with Phiona Nyamutoro, the Minister of State for Minerals.

In a recent interview, Kenzo clarified his stance on the matter, responding to rumors that Nyamutoro’s family had requested him to convert from Islam to Christianity as a prerequisite for their marriage.

“Why would I change?” Kenzo questioned, addressing the speculation. “For me, it’s about faith, not religion. Everyone has their perspective on how they connect with God. I don’t see the world as others do.”

Kenzo suggested that those fueling the conversation about his potential religious conversion were doing so with ill intentions, aiming to create unnecessary division.

“They are using the situation between Phiona and me to push their own agendas. But anyone who understands knows that we all worship one God,” he added, downplaying the significance of the debate.

Kenzo also firmly denied that Nyamutoro’s family had made any demands for him to convert to Christianity. “That’s not true,” he said, dismissing the reports as “propaganda” and “mere earthly talk.” He further explained that the idea of him changing his religion had never been discussed by Nyamutoro’s family. “Why would they want me to change religion? They’ve never even mentioned it,” he reiterated.

Adding to the discussion, a recent social media post by a fashionista claimed that Kenzo was considering converting to Christianity to satisfy Nyamutoro’s parents. The post suggested that the conversion was a condition set by her family for the marriage to proceed.

However, in contrast to these claims, Nyamutoro’s father, Patrick Aperu, has publicly expressed his support for his daughter’s choice, regardless of religious or professional background.

In an interview, Aperu stated that he respected his daughter’s autonomy in choosing her life partner, indicating that her family’s primary concern was her happiness, not religious affiliation.

As the wedding draws near, Kenzo’s comments reflect his desire to keep personal beliefs separate from public scrutiny, focusing instead on the unity and mutual respect between him and his future wife. The rumors, according to him, are nothing more than distractions from the love and faith that they share.
