The Law Development Centre (LDC) has announced the admission of 1,643 students who were previously left out of the 2024/2025 intake for the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, following government intervention.
Dr. Pamela Tibihikirra Kalyegira, the Director of the Law Development Centre (LDC), announced the successful admission of 1,643 applicants who had been awaiting confirmation for the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice for the academic year 2024/2025. The announcement follows recent engagements between the LDC, the Attorney General, and other key government stakeholders, culminating in the release of funds to accommodate these pending applicants.
“Following our engagement with the government through the Hon. Attorney General and other stakeholders, the government has since released funds to cater for the 1,643 applicants that had not received admission letters,” Dr. Kalyegira confirmed during a press briefing.
The second intake, which will commence on January 6, 2025, aims to ensure that all eligible applicants are given an opportunity to pursue their postgraduate studies.
According to Dr. Kalyegira, applicants will receive their admission notifications via email by 5:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
This development has been met with relief among the affected applicants, many of whom had feared their legal career paths would be delayed. The move reflects the government’s commitment to addressing higher education challenges and expanding access to professional training in the legal sector.
