On Monday, October 21st, 2024, Fort Portal was enveloped in grief as musician Gravity Omutujju laid his mother, Mrs. Jane Kajoina, to rest.

The Trouble Tabu singer shared emotional memories of his late mother, expressing deep regret over being unable to support her financially before her passing.

During the heartfelt burial, he revealed that just a few weeks prior, Mrs. Kajoina had reached out to him seeking financial support to reinvest UGX 5 million into her business. However, due to financial struggles following a flopped concert, Gravity was unable to provide the money. This unfulfilled promise has left the musician devastated, adding to the emotional weight of losing his mother.

The quiet town of Fort Portal was transformed into a gathering spot for hundreds of mourners, including celebrities, fans, and close family members, who came together to pay their final respects to Mrs. Jane Kajoina, the mother of one of Uganda’s most celebrated musicians, Gravity Omutujju.

During the somber ceremony, the singer, whose real name is Gereson Wabuyi, opened up about the personal anguish he is facing, not only from the loss of his mother but also from the fact that he could not fulfill her last financial request.

“She called me recently asking for UGX 5 million to reinvest in her shop. It was weighing heavily on her. Unfortunately, my concert didn’t do well, and I just couldn’t find the money,” he said tearfully. “It hurts me deeply that she’s gone, and I never got the chance to help her.”
