“Go to hell” Is a response I received from Aciro Theresa a friend of mine at campus after telling her to stop eating junk foods.“There is no meal as delicious as junk food, I cannot do without it, I usually take junk, I do love it” said Theresa.

Junk foods/fast foods, are foods which are highly processed with different additions, chemicals, they are satisfying but add little nutrients to body.Just like my friend Theresa, there are many people who cannot spend a month without eating junk foods. These are  mostly campus students, who find life hard to cook ordinary food but rather enjoy unhealthy, discretionary  food as it is easily accessible.

However, none of us can stop people from  consuming, but rather providing implications resulting from over consumption of junk. For that purpose, I had to consult a doctor to assist such people  to understand the implications coming along with eating too much junk as  well as providing solutions to such implications.

Routine junk food (discretionary, unhealthy) consumption trait to health.

Doctor Joseph kanakulya Lisa clinic Kabalagala.

According to Doctor Joseph kanakulya of mulango hospital, cure medical center and Lisa pharmacy in kabalagala who works as a clinician.

. The first implication of junk food is Cordial vascular health. (Health of the heart , blood vessels and  blood circulation). Due to being highly processed, junk foods contains  carbohydrates(sugars), sodium(salt) and oil content,  if not excising, all oil is stored as fat in the body.

Thus ending in the heart or Liver, leading to non-alcoholic Liver disease or proving in the vessels, then narrows ( artherosclerosis ), which makes the heart to pump more causing cordial conditions. Resulting  into heart diseases like hypertension . This causeses enlargement of the heart or weakening of the heart muscles due to work overload.

. Diabetes, excessive sugars and added weight affect the rate at which your body controls  sugar levels .The more fats stored in the body the more risk of getting type 2 diabetes. In the body we have an organ called pancreas which produces insulin to lower the sugar in the blood

Due to too much fats, the body stops responding to the fats thus the pancreas can no longer produce enough insulin to break down the fats hence leading to obesity.

You get high blood sugar, high blood pressure and your liver is damaged due to fats stored which take space for the cells. The liver helps to take out toxins, drugs,  digest food using the cell but when fat is there, the cells are reduced.

Flied chips (junk food)

. The brain, . The brain needs a lot of water and nutrients to function well and stay alert. But junk foods have low nutritional value.  due to lack of vitamin, water, normal carbohydrate and proteins, the brain go through oxidative stress.

The brain produces chemicals which are coming from oil rather than energy coming from ordinary food. These restores in the brain leading to  drowsiness, loss of concentration,  poor memory, depression, fatigue etc. for example, people who sleep a lot,  or are obesity.

.Acne or pimples .  pimples are  mainly in adolescents. Acne is caused by excessive fat stored under your skin . people who enjoy junk food  end up having pimples.

. Addiction, People who eat junk foods end up being addicted to it. They lack appetite for other value added foods the more you crave for them, the less nutrition you get .

How to handle implications of excessive junk consumption ?

.Do exercise, exercise to increase the rate at which fats can be broken down into energy.

Therefore, the energy you are burning comes from the fat you stored, so the fats goes  on reducing.

. Drink water, take at least three litres of water . For instance,  when you pure oil on water it cannot sink, water and fat can never mix. The more water content in your body, the less fat you create.

Recommended litres  of water for junk consumers.

. Eat vitamins,  fruits and vegetables contains vitamins . These vitamins increase metabolism since they help in breaking foods easier and fast.

.Fruits and vegetables have fibres, fibers satisfies. The more fibers you take the less likely you are going to eat junk food. Fibers does not add nutrition to your body but  keeps your minds away from thinking about the junk foods.

Fruits and vegetables.

. Fruits and vegetables helps to save. As junks are a way expensive  than fruits .

. Supplements,

For people who are weak at eating fibres , doctors have come up with fibre supplements called weight loss supplements that allow you take a variety of fibres in its full content.

According to the research carried out by Michalis Hadijikakou in Australia in October 27th 2016 showed that  people in Australia eat junk foods because they are very cheap. Junk foods however, end up attacking the health of the people in Australia, in the same manner, endangering the environment in Australia.

Unlike in Uganda where Ugandans eat junk foods that are away more expensive than ordinary foods thus causing the same consequences as those in Australia.
