Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) has parted ways with head coach Abdallah Mubiru following a string of poor performances, the latest being a crushing 4-0 defeat to Kitara FC. The decision, confirmed by the club on Thursday, marks the end of Mubiru’s five-month tenure.

In a statement released on its official website, the club described the departure as a mutual agreement: “Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) and Head Coach Abdallah Mubiru have today agreed to mutually part ways with immediate effect.”

Assistant coach Kefa Kisala also exits alongside Mubiru. The club has named Jackson Magera Kaddu, previously an assistant coach, as interim head coach as it navigates the remainder of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) season.

Mubiru, a seasoned tactician with a CAF ‘A’ license, joined KCCA FC in November 2023 after the exit of Portuguese manager Sergio Daniel Traguil. His arrival was met with high expectations, but the club has struggled for form in recent weeks, slipping in the league standings.

The 4-0 loss to Kitara FC at Royal Park, Buteme, appears to have been the final straw for the KCCA board, who are under pressure from fans to turn around what has become an underwhelming campaign for the 13-time UPL champions.

The spotlight now shifts to Jackson Magera, who faces the daunting task of steadying the club’s performance in the closing stages of the season. With KCCA FC still mathematically in contention for a top-four finish, the interim coach has little room for error.
