Museveni Launches PDM Tour in Greater Mubende, Urges Vigilance Against Corruption

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni kicked off his regional tour to monitor the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM), starting in Kyankwanzi District, with a call for accountability, community vigilance, and effective use of government funds to boost household incomes.

Museveni inspected the poultry farm of Patrick Matovu, a local beneficiary of the Parish Development Model (PDM). Matovu, who used the UGX 1 million fund to set up a thriving chicken enterprise, was commended by the President for his entrepreneurship and for inspiring other community members to follow suit.

Museveni praised the potential of the PDM to transform Uganda’s rural economy, stressing that if beneficiaries repay their loans as required, each parish could manage a fund pool of UGX 800 million within just a few years.

“If all PDM beneficiaries follow the proper loan management principles and begin repayment by the second year, the fund will grow into a powerful economic engine per parish,” said Museveni.

The President also used the platform to warn against corruption and misuse of public funds, urging citizens to report any public officials who attempt to exploit or divert development resources.

“Corruption undermines the progress we seek. The people must be vigilant. The days of the corrupt are numbered,” Museveni said, drawing cheers from the local crowd.

The Greater Mubende PDM tour will cover five key districts: Mityana, Mubende, Kyankwanzi, Kasanda, and Kiboga. The president is expected to meet several beneficiaries, inspect ongoing projects, and rally communities to embrace the PDM vision of economic transformation through agriculture, financial discipline, and cooperative growth.

As Uganda prepares for the 2026 general elections, the PDM remains one of the NRM government’s flagship initiatives aimed at lifting millions out of subsistence farming and integrating them into the money economy.
