President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Kayunga District National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairperson Moses Karangwa Kalisa as Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Duties.
The appointment was communicated in an official letter citing the President’s constitutional mandate. “I’m pleased to inform you that H.E. the President, in the powers vested in him under Article 172 (1)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995 (as amended), and on the advice of the Public Service Commission, directed that you be offered an appointment as Senior Presidential Advisor,” the letter reads in part.
Karangwa is a seasoned NRM mobiliser with a long track record in party leadership. He currently serves as the NRM chairperson for Kayunga District and previously held the same position in Jinja Municipality, where he was credited with strengthening party structures and grassroots mobilisation.
His appointment is seen as part of President Museveni’s continued effort to reinforce political coordination and advisory capacity at State House, particularly by drawing from loyal and experienced party cadres at the district level.
Details regarding the specific scope of Karangwa’s duties were not immediately disclosed, but the role of Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Duties typically involves political mobilisation, coordination of special assignments, and advising the President on party and governance-related matters.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
