Bukedea District has come alive with thousands of residents turning up for a free eye care outreach organized by the Ruparelia Foundation, in a heartfelt tribute to the late Rajiv Ruparelia.

The inaugural eye camp, held at Bukedea Hospital, drew massive crowds as beneficiaries lined up as early as morning to receive free medical attention. Trustees of the foundation, including Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and Jyotsna Ruparelia, were welcomed to the venue by a mammoth gathering, reflecting the scale of need and the impact of the initiative.

The outreach marks the beginning of a broader campaign aimed at extending essential eye care services to underserved communities, while also preserving the legacy of Rajiv Ruparelia, whose life was defined by compassion and generosity.

Speaking at the event, representatives of the foundation said the initiative is a fulfillment of a promise to continue Rajiv’s spirit of giving back to society. “This is a reflection of Rajiv’s kind heart and his commitment to helping others. Through this outreach, his legacy lives on,” a foundation official noted.

According to Sheena Ruparelia, Bukedea was deliberately chosen for the launch because of Rajiv’s personal connection to the region. She explained that he spent considerable time in nearby Mbale and had taken a special interest in Bukedea Teaching Hospital, making it a meaningful location for the outreach.

The foundation is targeting to serve up to 5,000 people through the eye camp, offering free screening, treatment, and medical guidance. For many residents, the initiative presents a rare opportunity to access specialized healthcare services that are often financially out of reach.

Local leaders and community members have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly in a region where access to affordable healthcare remains a challenge.

As the crowds continue to gather, the outreach not only highlights the pressing need for medical services but also stands as a powerful testament to how philanthropy can transform lives and sustain the legacy of those committed to serving humanity.
