Uganda’s Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, has urged African nations to take charge of their own development agenda and shape global narratives during a keynote address at the Harvard Business School Africa Business Conference in the United States.

Nabbanja emphasized that Africa must leverage its natural advantages and move away from dependency by setting clear priorities in global engagements. She described Uganda and the broader continent as attractive investment destinations, citing abundant natural resources, expanding markets, and growing digital ecosystems.
She highlighted value addition to raw materials as a key solution to Africa’s underdevelopment, stressing the need for industrialisation to create jobs and boost economic growth. Uganda, she noted, is focusing on reducing the cost of electricity and labour, while investing in efficient railway and water transport systems to attract investors.
The Prime Minister also called for unity among African nations, saying that strategic coordination and confidence are essential for the continent to negotiate better terms globally and achieve sustainable development.
Her remarks reinforce Uganda’s push to position itself as a hub for investment and industrial growth, while contributing to a broader vision of Africa-driven transformation.
