Security and traffic authorities have issued a public advisory ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, urging motorists to plan their travel carefully and cooperate with traffic officers deployed along key routes.

The ceremony, scheduled to take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, is expected to attract thousands of guests, including foreign dignitaries, government officials, diplomats, and supporters from across the country.

In the advisory, motorists have been warned against parking in unauthorized areas, with authorities cautioning that vehicles found in restricted zones will be towed to nearby police stations at the owners’ expense.

Police said the measures are intended to enhance safety, security, and orderliness during the high-profile national event.

Authorities also announced that certain activities will be prohibited along designated routes, while temporary traffic diversions and movement restrictions will be enforced around major roads leading to the venue.

Drivers have been urged to strictly follow instructions issued by traffic officers, avoid reckless driving, and exercise patience during the period of heightened security operations.

“The public is strongly encouraged to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative as the country marks this important national occasion,” the advisory noted.

The swearing-in ceremony marks the beginning of Museveni’s new term in office following his victory in the 2026 general elections. The event is expected to draw significant regional and international attention, with several African leaders and foreign delegations anticipated to attend.

Security deployment across Kampala has already intensified in preparation for the ceremony, with police and other security agencies expected to maintain heightened surveillance before, during, and after the inauguration.

Authorities are expected to release additional guidance on road usage, designated parking areas, and security arrangements as the event draws closer.
