One person has died and three others sustained serious injuries following a road accident that occurred early Tuesday morning along Kawaala Road in Kampala.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. when a speeding taxi reportedly lost control and rammed into a roadside food stall near the Good Times Primary School junction.

The deceased was identified as Sarah Kwezi, a 32-year-old food vendor, who died instantly at the scene. The three injured victims were rushed to Kawaala Referral Hospital for treatment.

Eyewitnesses said the impact caused panic among residents and motorists in the area, with several bystanders rushing to assist the victims before emergency responders arrived.

Traffic along the busy road was temporarily disrupted as police officers cleared the scene and directed motorists to alternative routes.

By publication time, police had not yet released an official statement on the incident. However, preliminary information from eyewitnesses suggests that speeding may have contributed to the crash.

Authorities have launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident.

The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety in Kampala, where reckless driving and speeding continue to be among the leading causes of traffic accidents.

Road safety advocates have repeatedly called on motorists to observe traffic regulations, maintain their vehicles in good mechanical condition, and exercise caution while using public roads.
