Government forensic DNA tests have identified only four individuals as the biological children of the late Ugandan music legend Paul Kafeero, bringing fresh clarity to a long-standing dispute over his estate and family lineage.

According to the results, only Benedicto Kafeero, Simon Peter Kafeero, Thomas Swaz Kafeero, and Elizabeth Nagawa were confirmed as biological children of the celebrated Kadongo Kamu icon.

The findings emerged after forensic examinations were conducted on a group of 25 claimants who had sought recognition as descendants of the late musician.

The DNA verification process was undertaken as part of efforts to resolve disputes surrounding Kafeero’s estate and establish the rightful beneficiaries.

The results mean that the remaining claimants who participated in the exercise were not confirmed as biological children of the deceased based on the forensic evidence presented.

Paul Kafeero remains one of Uganda’s most influential traditional musicians, remembered for his contribution to the growth of Kadongo Kamu music and for producing numerous songs that continue to resonate with audiences years after his death.

The release of the DNA findings is expected to have significant implications for the administration of the musician’s estate and any ongoing inheritance proceedings involving family members and claimants.

By publication time, it was not immediately clear whether any of the affected parties intended to challenge the findings or seek further legal redress.

The development marks a major milestone in efforts to settle questions surrounding the lineage and inheritance of one of Uganda’s most celebrated musical figures.
