President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni visited the Inspire Africa Modern Coffee Park in Rwashamaire town, Ntungamo district, signaling strong government support for the transformative coffee project.

The coffee hub, part of a pilot initiative by Inspire Africa, is poised to receive a significant boost from a proposed $10 million (Shs37 billion) government grant.

The Inspire Africa Modern Coffee Park is designed to aggregate graded coffee from farmers across the Ankole, Kigezi, and Rwenzori (AKR) regions. It aims to process the coffee into various final products and package them for both local consumption and export. The facility features three large factory houses dedicated to primary, secondary, and tertiary coffee production. This setup will enable value addition through products such as coffee wines, drinks, and lip balms.

During his tour of the site, President Museveni assessed the progress of the project and expressed his commitment to further support the initiative. He pledged additional funds to enhance the project, emphasizing the importance of helping more coffee farmers add value to their products.

Nelson Tugume, the CEO of Inspire Africa Coffee, commended President Museveni for his leadership in championing value addition in the coffee industry. “We are grateful for the President’s unwavering support and commitment to transforming Uganda’s coffee sector,” Tugume remarked.

The event was attended by key figures, including Ministers Evelyn Anite and Dr. Musenero, Members of Parliament, religious leaders, businessmen, and coffee farmers from the Kigezi, Rwenzori, and greater Ankole regions. The gathering underscored the broad-based support for the coffee park and the collaborative effort to boost Uganda’s coffee industry.
