AIGP Frank Mwesigwa, Director of Operations for the Uganda Police Force, commended Uganda Formed Police Unit personnel in Mogadishu for their exceptional discipline and teamwork during a visit to the Al Jazeera Formed Police Unit camp yesterday.

In a visit to the Al Jazeera Formed Police Unit (FPU) camp in Mogadishu, Somalia, AIGP Frank Mwesigwa, Director of Operations for the Uganda Police Force (UPF), expressed admiration for the dedication and discipline of Ugandan personnel serving in the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). Accompanied by senior officials, including SCP Martin Amoru, ATMIS Police Deputy Commissioner, and CP Dinah Kyasimire, UPF Deputy Director of Legal Services, AIGP Mwesigwa inspected the camp and evaluated the working environment for the police unit.

During his address, AIGP Mwesigwa applauded the personnel for their resilience and morale, highlighting their effective collaboration with military forces and other FPUs within the mission area. “Your commitment, teamwork, and discipline have been remarkable, and it is through these qualities that we ensure the continued success of our mission here,” he said.

He further emphasized the importance of sustaining these traits, noting that the unit’s professionalism was critical to achieving ATMIS’s objectives in Somalia.

SCP Martin Amoru reinforced Mwesigwa’s message, underlining the vital role that Uganda’s police force plays in promoting peace and stability in the region. Amoru stressed that the contributions of Ugandan police officers are integral to the overall mission, praising their efforts in maintaining security and supporting the ongoing transition process in Somalia.

The visit reaffirmed the Uganda Police Force’s commitment to international peacekeeping efforts and highlighted the critical role that discipline and cooperation play in ensuring mission success in challenging environments.
