The President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, has dismissed claims of favoritism toward Morocco, insisting that the continental body treats all African nations equally.

Responding to a question from an Egyptian journalist, Motsepe emphasized that CAF’s mandate is to promote football across the continent without bias, noting that decisions are guided by merit and development standards.

He explained that Morocco’s growing prominence in African football is a result of deliberate investment, strong infrastructure, and consistent success on and off the pitch, rather than preferential treatment.

Motsepe pointed to the country’s ability to organize major competitions and its readiness in terms of facilities as key factors behind its rising influence in African football.

His remarks come amid ongoing debate in football circles about competition hosting and governance, with CAF maintaining that performance, preparedness, and commitment to development remain the primary criteria for advancement.
