The Electoral Commission Uganda has scheduled June 10, 2026, as the polling date for the Kikuube District LC5 chairperson by-election.
The by-election follows the death of former district chairperson Peter Banura Araali, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident earlier this month. He was reportedly knocked down by a speeding Toyota Hiace in Butyamba Village, Kikuube Town Council.
According to the EC, the roadmap for the by-election was approved on April 17 by Chairperson Simon Mugenyi Byabakama.
The electoral body is expected to release detailed guidelines on nominations, campaigns, and polling procedures as preparations for the vote get underway.
