The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially released the list of winners and losers following this week’s hotly contested parliamentary primaries. The elections, which unfolded amidst heavy security, scattered violence, and the reported deaths of at least two individuals, ushered in a dramatic political reshuffle that ousted veteran politicians and elevated a younger generation of leaders.
The NRM parliamentary primaries held across Uganda this week have reshaped the political landscape of the ruling party. Several long-serving ministers and MPs were voted out, making way for both fresh faces and returning political veterans.
In what analysts describe as a generational shift, more than 100 candidates emerged victorious across different districts ranging from government incumbents to previously defeated politicians and new entrants.
