Makerere University is set to graduate 8,432 students during its 76th graduation ceremony, scheduled to take place from February 24 to 27.
The graduands include 185 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) holders, 2,034 master’s degree recipients, 6,043 bachelor’s degree graduates, 137 postgraduate diploma awardees, and 33 diploma recipients.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe attributed the surge in graduate numbers to the university’s research-led education strategy, noting that the current figure represents a 30 percent increase in graduate output compared to previous ceremonies.

He added that the growth reflects Makerere’s commitment to strengthening postgraduate training, research, and innovation while maintaining academic excellence.
