Over 2,000 Ugandans living abroad, particularly in Johannesburg, are reportedly organizing celebrations following the re-election of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 general elections.

The planned events are being coordinated with support from Ugandan officials, including Ambassador Paul Amoru and Presidential Adviser Phillip Kakuru.

Organizers say the celebrations are intended to demonstrate unity among Ugandans in the diaspora and express continued support for the government, even as political debate around the election results persists.

The development highlights the role of the Ugandan diaspora in national politics, where sections of citizens abroad often engage in political expression and mobilization beyond the country’s borders.
