Leaders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) have been urged to uphold unity, discipline, and active participation as a retreat for newly elected Members of Parliament gets underway at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.

Addressing participants, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong welcomed the legislators to the week-long induction, describing it as a key tradition aimed at orienting new MPs on their national and parliamentary responsibilities.

Todwong urged the leaders to use the retreat as a moment of reflection on their constituencies, the country’s future, and the party’s strategic direction. He emphasized the need to remain focused, minimize distractions, and actively engage in discussions throughout the program.

The Kyankwanzi retreat is expected to play a central role in aligning legislators with the NRM’s governance priorities and strengthening cohesion within the party as the new parliamentary term begins.
